A Journey on Canvas

Objectives of this piece:
Collaboration
Sensory exploration
Colour mixing
Cutting and sticking
Positive and negative art

Steps:
1)To encourage colour mixing with their hands on canvas  (a rich tactile experience!), we set up a canvas divided into 4 parts with tape and squeezed blobs of Crayola paint on it. You can see in the photo below that we put the blobs on strategically in hope that they would be able to observe the changes to two colours mixing at a time. This activity unexpectedly went on to become a 'painting with cars' activity with the kids taking cars to the canvas to create tracks.

2) Once the paint was dry we removed the tape. We then offered different-sized tape for the children to cut and stick onto the canvas.

3) Then out came the black paint and thick brushes. We ended up using big roller brushes meant for house painting which was super fun!

4) Once that was dry, all that was left to do was to get all that tape off!!!

Hope this helps :)
